STANDING SEAM MECHANICAL LOCK

Standing Seam Roofing Contractors

Standing seam mechanical lock is a type of metal roofing system where the seams are mechanically fastened and locked together for added strength and weather resistance. This design ensures a secure, watertight seal by folding the edges of the metal panels over each other, then mechanically crimping or locking them in place with our seamers. This method enhances the roof's ability to withstand high winds and heavy rain, making it a reliable option for areas with extreme weather conditions. We offer a single folding system and a double folding system.  Standing seam mechanical lock performs exceptionally well for roofing slopes from .5/12 and above.

The standing seam snap lock profile is a type of metal roofing system where the panels are designed to "snap" together by force, creating a secure, watertight seam without the need for mechanical fastening or crimping. The panels have interlocking edges that are pressed together, allowing for quick installation and a clean, sleek appearance. This system is ideal for residential and light commercial applications, offering a durable, low-maintenance roofing solution with excellent weather resistance. Its ease of installation and minimal visible fasteners make it a popular choice for modern architecture. Snap lock is available for roofing pitches that are 3/12 and above.

What is standing seam metal roofing?

Standing seam metal roofing is a roofing system that is locked onto the bottom eaves (or cleats in valleys dependent on the house design) and is run vertically to the ridge of the roof. Standing seam has different locking types such as snap lock and mechanical lock where the system locks on by either force or mechanically.

Standing seam roofing is one of the best metal roofing systems and is known for its durability and its sleek profiles.

What pitch can standing seam metal roofs be installed on?

For snap lock standing seam metal roofing you can install it on a 3/12 and above.

For mechanical lock standing seam you can install it on a .5/12 and above. Making this system available on almost every roofing design.

How much do standing seam metal roofs cost?

Standing seam has a lot of different factors that play apart in the pricing. Profile, gauge of material, underlayment system, roof pitch, roof complexity, roof size, roof accessibility, location etc.

Generally standing seam metal roofs range from $12-16 per square foot.

Are standing seam metal roofs complex to install?

Standing seam metal roofing is one of the most tedious metal roofing systems. To set up the trims, to make perfect flashings (and custom flashings for each job), to have each panel locked on. This makes standing seam  very time consuming when installed on difficult builds. It takes roughly 2-3 times as long as exposed fastener roofing systems take our crews.

Why choose standing seam over other metal roofs?

Standing seam metal roofing is the Ferrari of all metal roofs. It is the top performing metal roof on the market and still has a elegant and timeless design.

Our customers tend to choose standing seam for a stress free system that they know will perform for a lifetime.

How long do standing seam roofs take to install?

For installation times on standing seam metal roof it has lots off things that could effect our timelines.

We have basic standing seam roofs that only take 1-2 days for 2000-4000 sqft. But then we have complex standing seam metal roofs with steep pitches, lots of valleys & hips, turrets that can make jobs take up to 1 month to install (5000-10,000 sqft roofs).

Usually for us our standing seam roofs take 2-3 times the conventional metal roofs to install. This is due to each panel prep (with hems), trims that need to be set or made custom for each site etc.

What leads your customer toward purchasing a standing seam metal roof?

The main thing that our customers all have in common when purchasing a standing seam metal roof is they want it to be stress free. Our customers want to know that after a harsh winter with lots of snow and high winds they arrive at there cottage without any problems. They budgeted for a standing seam roofing price so they do not need to do a roof replacement ever again. It gives them a stress free peace of mind.

We also have lots of customers who love the timeless and elegant look of standing seam. A perfectly done standing seam metal roof stands out like no other. Whether you purchase a standing seam metal roof for your cottage, personal home, commercial property, or business you will understand what these customers feel.

What type of snow stops do you use for a standing seam metal roof?

At CT Roofing Solutions we usually use S5 Color guard snow stops on our standing seam metal roofs. These clamp onto the ribs (so the roof is not punctured and still works as fully hidden fastening). When purchasing a hidden fastening roofing system we prefer to only use snow systems that compliment and work with the design. The systems we do are the S5 Colorguard that looks great for residential roofing and the S5 bar system which is more common for commercial metal roofing systems.
